Broxtowe Partnership Trust and the Community
The local community is at the centre of everything that the Broxtowe Partnership Trust does. The Partnership Trust exists only to further the economic and social regeneration of the estate for the benefit of those living here so we try to include local residents in everything we do and try to ensure that we are doing things WITH local residents rather than TO them or FOR them. Opportunities exist at all levels of the organisation for local people to get involved. There are six seats reserved on the Management Board for local people. Residents are elected to these seats by their fellow residents. Local people are also welcome at all the open meetings of the Partnership Trust and are encouraged to come along and have their say. In addition to this, special events and meetings are organised as appropriate to get local people involved in specific projects or initiatives. These have recently included:
We also work to increase the number of local people volunteering on the estate – either directly with the Partnership Trust or with other local organisations – and are offering those volunteers help to find the right placement and ongoing support once they find it. Click on the link above to find out more. The Broxtowe News – the community newspaper that goes to every house on the estate once a month – allows people to make their views known on any subject of interest to them or to let people know about anything of interest that they are doing. It is also one of the main ways in which the Partnership Trust can let the local community know what is happening in and around Broxtowe. We aim to include the local community in everything we do. This is not always easy because of how busy people are with their own lives and families, but we know that it is vital for local people to set the agenda for the future development of Broxtowe Estate and for them to work with the Partnership Trust to bring about real and lasting change. Contact the Action Team at any time, we’d be glad to talk to you. |
